I embrace the ecological community of my garden. Plants, insects, and wildlife create a harmonic synergy that flows into my work. Luminous energy, light, and space is shared. I transform the radiance I experience into my painted world. When our senses are open, the bedazzlement of the natural world is revealed in both subtle and outrageous ways. My painted blossoms welcome you into their world; in them, may you find solace and joy.
The play of color is important to me and I often paint the same image more than once using a different color palette. It’s fun to see how the mood shifts and what other possibilities may be present in the image.
Painting for me takes time. In our world today there is an unspoken message to hurry. To finish, even before you’ve started. To get it done, whatever it is. If I work too fast I miss the looking and what the painting is telling me. I am shown the next step if I look and listen. If I allow myself the luxury of contemplation I am a happier human being and painter.
“I first met Pamela a few years ago – over a Zoom call – and we quickly became friends. I was instantly drawn to the wonderful artwork I saw behind her, and told her so. How wonderful to discover that she was the artist! Her style is instantly recognisable. I see life and her spirit flowing through her art (in fact, I have told Pamela how the word ‘Chi’ springs to mind). Her use of colour is extraordinary and enviable. Perhaps it is her personality that I see most in her work – her love, kindness, generosity of spirit and compassion. I am very glad to know Pamela, and I hope to meet her and her artwork in person one day too!” Nan P., United Kingdom
